I hope everybody had a pleasant week off school. It was certainly a pleasant day back here in room 19.
We started out the morning in Tech Center where Mr. Rico introduced the students to making a Prezi. This is an alternative form of creating a presentation – very different from PowerPoint or Keynote. It is a web-based service which creates a sort of gigantic virtual bulletin board and allows the students to the zoom in and out of different parts of it. Even the teacher found it quite intriguing…
The students went to Mr. Pratt for Social Studies. After lunch,we worked on determining the lengths of line segments with coordinate points. After teaching them the easy way to figure this out – not the way they do in the book – this went pretty smoothly.
In the afternoon, the students met with their reading buddies. They then had an hour of special PE with Coach Angel, their reward for being THE ONLY class at the school with 100 percent Walk-a-thon participation.
Homework: (1) Write spelling words 1-10 TWO times each in cursive. Write a sentence in cursive for each one. (2) Do the spelling jumble. (3) Do “Phonics” page 290 and “More, Most” on pages 299-300 of the Practice book. (4) Do “Line Segments on pages 408-409 of the math book and “Amazing Grid” on the back of the answer sheet.
